They are ideal for presenting, sharing and gaining knowledge over a short period of time. They provide the opportunity to combine learning with a visit to beautiful multicultural Vienna. INNES offers the perfect environment for studying, applying knowledge, and making friends and contacts for your future career.


THE TEACHING LANGUAGE & SUMMER SCHOOL STRUCTURE

All International Summer and Winter Schools are taught in English. You need to have functional written and spoken English to at least at B2 level, but we do not require any IELTS scores. There are approximately between 10-20 participants in every Summer School. The academic program takes place mostly in the morning and early afternoon. Workshops, field excursions, company visits and social events take place in the afternoon and evenings. Weekends are free.


INTERNATIONAL LECTURERS

International Summer and Winter Schools are held and supervised by lecturers from accredited universities all over the world, or by accomplished and passionate professionals from industry,NGOs or governmental institutions. The lecturers and content of the sessions are chosen according to international academic criteria by an academic board to guarantee high standards and your full satisfaction.

The tuition fee includes the tuition and registration fee, course certificate and all study materials as well as our social program


WORKLOAD, CERTIFICATE and CREDITS

Our two or three-week interdisciplinary International Summer and Winter Schools consist of lectures, workshops, in- and outdoor activities, field excursions, discussions and project work. Every program offers a minimum number of contact hours, excursions and self study in 45 minute sessions (55 for two weeks and 65 for three weeks). Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation. After passing the final examination or completing the final project work successfully, you will be issued an ECTS-credits certificate as well, which you can use for transferring credits back at your home university.


VISA

If you need a visa for Austria we will send you an invitation letter as soon as we receive payment for your course. You will also need to confirm your hostel/student residence booking. Free Social Program for International Schools

Apart from developing your academic knowledge and skills at INNES Institute, we also want to you to explore Vienna’s’ multicultural and vibrant atmosphere. This is why we compiled this exciting selection of highlights of Vienna life for you. The entire Social Program is free, and your participation is optional – you can pick and mix exactly those activities that interest you the most. It is important that you select the option "Free Social Program for International Schools" as you register, so that we can make all the necessary arrangements. By participating in the INNES Social program you will experience Vienna beyond the obvious. This is a great opportunity to create new friendships while discovering this beautiful, green and exciting city. Below we’ve listed several of our past social activities. Welcome Event

We would like to wish you a warm welcome to your INNES international school. Each school has its own its own welcome event where you will be able to meet your new colleagues and lecturers in a relaxed atmosphere, while sampling some tasty local food. Vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options are always available on request.

Public Transport

Buses, trains, trams and underground lines will take you anywhere in the city in no time at all. On weekends and public holidays the underground runs all night, on weekdays the public transport stops just after midnight. To increase your freedom during your stay in Vienna we offer all participants under 27 a special public transport deal for one, two or three weeks. This option has to be booked during the registration process, as we have to order these special passes in advance. The quickest way to get to INNES is by underground (U1, U2 or U4), but also by tram or bus. Have fun exploring!

Walking tour in Vienna’s first district

A  walking tour is a great way to familiarize yourself with Vienna’s stunning first district. This entertaining and informative walking tour lasts 2.5 hours. In this tour you can expect to get an in-depth impression of the breathtakingly beautiful first district. Listen to insider stories told by experienced guides. You will end this tour with a good understanding of historical and cultural highlights of the Austrian history. Also available in German. Give a tip if you liked the tour. 

Bus City Tour

From your comfortable seat in the bus you will get a good overview of the fascinating metropole that is contemporary Vienna: Albertinaplatz – State Opera house – Ringstraße – Mozart Monument – Hofburg - Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History – Parliament – City Hall – Burgtheater – Universität – Vienna Stock Exchange – Schwedenplatz - Hundertwasser house – Krawina Haus – Prater – Donauinsel – UNO City – Johann Strauss Museum – Urania – Ring – Stadtpark – Johann Strauss Denkmal – Beethoven Monument – Karlsplatz - Musikverien – Naschmarkt – Schönbrunn Palace – Belvedere Palace – Schwarzenbergplatz – Albertinaplatz Duration: approx. 2h

Swimming in the Danube river

Together with your new friends and one of our teachers, take U6 or U1 to Donauinsel - a gigantic island in the middle of the river Danube. After a morning of intensive  studies, enjoy the greenery and the glistening blue Danube. You can even take a swim in the Donau and the Alte Donau - it is clean, safe and refreshing! The trip will only take place if at least six participants have registered. 

Guided Tour around Schönbrunn Palace

A few kilometers west of the center of Vienna, the spectacular Schönbrunn Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn) was built in the early 18th century in a beautiful park-like setting and remains one of Austria's leading attractions. The spectacular park around Schönbrunn Palace covers a massive area and was laid out in the 18th century in Baroque style. A particular pleasure is simply wandering the numerous paths alongside the park's flower beds while trying to spot all 44 of its 18th-century mythological marble sculpture, while finding out a little bit more about Austria's history from your guide. 

Ottakringer Brewery

The Ottakringer Brewery, which opened in 1837, is the last large brewery remaining in Vienna and is located in Ottakring, the 16th district of Vienna. During the guided tour you will be introduced into the process of beer production and you will have the opportunity to sample some of Austria’s most tasty and traditional types of beer. The trip will only take place if at least ten participants have registered. 

United Nations Guided Tour

The United Nations Office at Vienna was established as the third United Nations Headquarters after New York and Geneva (and before Nairobi). It is an extraterritorial area. Multilingual guides inform you about the United Nations in the field of drugs and crime, the peaceful uses of outer space, and refugees. Specialized agencies deal with industrial development, the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the banning of nuclear weapon testing. You will visit exhibitions and a conference room and get to know the fascinating world of the United Nations. The tour lasts approx. 1.5 hours.

Kunst Haus Wien

Located centrally in the 3rd district, the KUNST HAUS WIEN is home to a permanent exhibition of works by the Austrian architect and artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Hundertwasser (1928-2000) was one of Austria’s most famous avant-garde artists. His artworks reflect his philosophy, which is based on a harmonious interaction between nature and man. Hundertwasser’s ideas were rooted in ecological views long before they were generally acknowledged, so he can be considered a pioneer of sustainable thinking. His artworks are colourful, inspiring, and stunningly beautiful. 

Vienna Technical Museum

As one of the oldest museums of its kind, the Vienna Technical Museum looks back on more than 100 years of history. At the interface between past and future the Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Technical Museum) invites visitors to discover, experience and reflect on different fields of technology and its history, catering to all ages and interests. Historical exhibits, many of them unique, are showcased in their cultural context, with fun ways of transferring knowledge, making it possible to get to grips with technology.

The Musikverein

There are many music societies but only one Musikverein. Music lovers throughout the world know it as the centre of Viennese musical culture, as the focus of the international concert circuit and as the Eldorado of classical music.

Secession

The erection of its own exhibition building was one of the guiding principles of the "Association of Visual Artists Vienna Secession" that was discussed in its foundation meeting. The Secession members commissioned the 30-year-old architect Joseph Maria Olbrich, who was at the time a member of Otto Wagner's atelier, to design the building, which was to become a key work of Viennese Art Nouveau.

Farewell Dinner

It’s the time when we say goodbye. The farewell dinner is a dinner on the last day of your stay in Vienna with your new friends. Vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options are always available on request. We hope we will keep in touch with you and meet you again.

Ice skating at Wiener Eistraum

Located next to Vienna’s beautiful city hall, Rathaus. Make sure you wrap up warm and tighten your skates for a fun time on the ice. Wiener Eistraum is stunning especially after dark, skate with friends whilst admiring your surroundings – and try not to fall over! But don't worry, there are penguins to hold on to.

Accommodation

INNES is located in the very heart of Vienna, close to Karlsplatz, with accommodation and classes right next to many of the great social and cultural attractions which Vienna has to offer. WLAN is available at the INNES institute.

You can enjoy a fully-equipped room in one of the centrally-located and modern student residences by booking with our partner, the Oead Housing Office. You can reach INNES from any of their locations within 20-30 minutes or less by public transport. It is possible to move in during the weekend before and stay through the weekend after the end of your program until Saturday or Sunday noon.

Every room has Internet access. Bed linen is provided with the room and the kitchen is fully equipped. You only need to bring a towel.

For our participants we have arranged special conditions with the Housing Office in the student hostels in Sechshauser Straße or Molkereistraße:

1 week single/double room [6 nights]: EUR 293/203 per person
2 weeks single/double room [13 nights]: EUR 396/306 per person
3 weeks single/double room [20 nights]: EUR 464/374 per person
4 weeks single/double room [27 nights]: EUR 497/417 per person

For the above arrangements, no extra cleaning fee or administrative costs will apply. If you are applying outside of these months, the Housing Office will make you an offer depending upon available places. Please consider that EUR 35 are going to be charged by Housing Office in advance to make the offering. After accepting the offering you will need to pay EUR 200 (this offer is valid only in July, August and January, February, instead of regular EUR 1000 deposit) room deposit to the Housing Office as well, which is going to be transferred back after the end of your stay.

Please be aware that this is a request and NOT a reservation and that the above conditions are only available for a limited number of rooms. The reservation has to be arranged with the Housing Office directly. If you tick the box “Yes, I am interested in a room” during your registration process, then the Housing office will contact you directly.
