Be well prepared for the ÖSD exam!

The aim of this Personal German Language ÖSD Exam Training is for you to develop all necessary skills and test strategies for passing the ÖSD exam successfully. It takes place whenever you want to, usually a session lasts 90 minutes (2 UE). The only aim: To get you fit to pass your targeted ÖSD level!

Available at all levels: A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 level.

This training prepares you for the "ÖSD-way-of-thinking" in all relevant parts: reading, listening, speaking and writing - the 4 skills measured by means of the ÖSD exam. To pass ÖSD you need to be very familiar not only with the German language, but also with the exam tasks - this means you need to train appropriate test strategies to complete all tasks within the given time.

#1 Individual preparatory work. The ÖSD preparatory training typically begins with you completing a sample examination (Modelsatz) to determine your starting point. You will receive a ÖSD Modelsatz and work on it independently to familiarize yourself with the exam format. Your will bring your results to the first session, so you arrive to your first course day already with a clear idea of where you stand.

#2 Individual Training. You will be introduced step by step and interactively to all parts of the exam as well as key test strategies by your ÖSD experienced instructor. Together, you evaluate the results of your individual preliminary work, and you will get detailed feedback on your writing. In another model exam, you will practice the parts of reading comprehension and listening comprehension. The oral exam will be simulated in this first session and you will receive helpful feedback. You can ask all your questions for consideration.

After a targeted repetition of all test strategies, the entire ÖSD exam including speaking and writing is simulated. The use of audio recordings is also used. Your oral performance and your papers will be judged according to the same criteria as the actual exam, so you know exactly what aspects you still need to work on to succeed.

Training goal

You complete your individual ÖSD exam preparation with a good overview of the individual parts of the exam and the most effective testing strategies. You've gone through the entire exam twice and received individual feedback, whether you're ready for the exam, or an accurate diagnosis of where you still have some catching up to do. They work with official ÖSD materials as well as specially selected supplementary materials. All course materials are included in the course fee.

Which level is right for you?  I A1, A2, B1, B2 or C1?

To take part in this Intensive German Language ÖSD Exam Preparation Workshop you should already have studied at the respective level. So, for example, if you are aiming to pass the ÖSD B2 exam, you should have already studied German at B2/1 and the B2/2 course phase. Of course you will also train your German language in this course, but the course focus is on test strategies.  If you are not sure which level is best for you, talk to us! What is ÖSD, anyways?

ÖSD is a state-approved examination and assessment system for German as a Foreign Language / German as a Second Language. ÖSD exams focus mainly on communicative aspects which aim to assess foreign language competence in real-life situations. ÖSD exams correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The ÖSD is to Germany, Austria and in Switzerland what the TOEFL or IELTS is to the rest of the (English-speaking) world. ÖSD C1 level is the usual requirement (this is new for Austria from March 2018 onwards) for the admission at the university and it is accepted in Germany, Austria and in Switzerland.
